Other ideas for movie night

  • Kathy’s idea for movie night: seeing how successful it was for the kids despite the chaos, what if we just had night games at bradley?

  • Get all of the glow-in-the-dark things that we can

  • Arianna: if we continue to do movie night, we have to do significantly better fundraisers. We need to be able to commit to getting more sponsors, etc. We can’t do it DIY, we need everything 100% taken care of so all we have to do is have people show up and tell them we’re to put stuff. We don’t have the structure, recruitment, or volunteer base to put it on in full

  • Emily: previously had a campout at bradley, dance party on the other side of the building. We shouldn’t do in-kind donations for the tech setup. We could see if Bradley PTO wants to put on the movie night.

  • “Bradley After Dark” – maybe we could provide more support vs. run it

  • Emily to ask Bradley PTO if they can lead

Treasurer’s Report - Linda

$3,327.60 – Kristin to submit movie night receipts (screen, sandbags, etc)

Grant Funding (Emily)

Grants and Community Benefit Funds for RNOs

Did you know that there are a variety of grants and community benefit funds that RNOs can apply for to do community projects and support their groups? Organizations like The Denver Park Trust and The Denver Foundation offer grants and funding opportunities for neighborhood and community improvement. The programs provided by these organizations can assist with things like supporting grassroots community organizing campaigns or projects, doing small-scale, high-impact park improvement projects, and hiring "coaches" to help community groups build new, beneficial skills.

Grants for both of these programs range anywhere from $500 to $5,000, with The Denver Foundation providing grants of $2,500 on average. There are specified requirements for much of this funding, usually surrounding the type of organization your RNO is (like if it’s a 501(c)(3) organization), as well as the scope of the project that the RNO is attempting to achieve (for example, the grant provided by The Denver Park Trust is park and green space focused). Several City Council offices offer financial support for neighborhood organizations from their office budgets, but the City of Denver does not offer any funds for these groups.

The grants mentioned here are by no means an exhaustive list of the private funds that RNOs in Denver have the opportunity to tap into, but hopefully they’re a good starting place if your RNO has a project in mind!

The Denver Park Trust Project idea: Repair graffiti/lights and expand I25 underpass murals

The Denver Foundation Only grants to 501(c)(3)[recent change]

Upcoming Event (Arianna)

Sophie Pappas (an amazing lender I work with) and I are hosting Real Estate Office Hours at Public Brewing on October 16th at 6:00- 8:00pm.

It’s a relaxed, no-pressure way for anyone curious about the housing market—or thinking about buying or selling a home—to stop by, grab a beer, and ask questions.

First drink’s on us!

Do you know someone who has been thinking about jumping into the market or has questions about the process?

Denver elections

Molly draft statement/email to send in as public comment → send in email to UHNA group so we can chat – we need a quorum so we need six people to reply “yes”
