UHNA Board Meeting | August 14, 2025

Attendees: Kristin, Kathy, Mark, David, Molly, Arianna, Linda


Call to Order (Kristin at 6:39, David seconded) 


Approval of July Minutes (Kathy moved, Linda seconded)


September 12 Movie Night Planning

  • Permitting + facility fees

    • School staff: $300

    • Emily is getting the Port-a-Pottie figured out

      • Application already submitted

      • Need to figure out when/where we can put it

      • Need to figure out when it needs to be picked up

      • Arianna will be there when it is delivered

    • Grounds coordination

  • Insurance: Emily will buy and pay for insurance, request reimbursement from UHNA

  • All equipment is figured out EXCEPT for the screen

    • Mark’s contact is providing a sound setup and projector

    • Mark asked if we have a generator; Kristin said we have a power block, but we can check if we can run a long extension cord from the building, since we are paying to use the facility

    • Arianna is ordering a 28-foot blow-up screen on Amazon

      • Mark will ask his contact if he has recommendations 

      • We need water buckets to hold the screen in place in case of wind

      • Seeing if Emily can ask if we can use the hose to fill up barrels

      • Linda: We might be able to use the hose from the community water

  • Licensing - Swank (1.800.876.557)

    • Arianna will submit multiple movies to get quotes. Then, we can determine which ones to vote for based on costs

      • Wall-E

      • Spirit (the first)

      • Charlotte’s Web

    • Once voting options are finalized, Molly will send a link out in the newsletter (last week of August/first week of September) to vote and post on socials

  • Firetruck is coming between 6:30-7:30 p.m. (Mark confirmed)

  • Police outreach/mounted patrol contact: Emily

  • The library can’t come this year due to short staffing

  • Mark and David will take care of trash

  • Emily is asking PTO for $1,000 to help cover the event

  • Food Trucks

    • Arianna found one that serves quesadillas/burgers/hot dogs/etc

    • Arianna will reach out to Mukja

    • Arianna will reach out to HIPPops

  • Popcorn: ACE Hardware will bring bags of it

    • David will send Arianna his contact’s email

  • Flyer designs

    • We will wait until we get the movie decided

    • Flyer with QR code for voting? Arianna could print out a couple

September 11 Community Meeting

  • City Councilwoman Diana Romero Campbell will be in attendance

    • Exel Franchise Agreement – 30-year agreement with requirements to maintain infrastructure. The Denver City Council declined to move forward with it, so it won’t be on the November ballot

    • Bond improvement projects, her opinions

      • Items: Skate park, buying land for a second rec center, Eisenhower pool improvements/updates, and adding a lighted crossing across Dahlia at the High Line Canal Trail

      • Full Vibrant Bond Project List

    • Pedestrian safety/striping for bike lanes

    • Library closure? Kristin said there’s not much she can do about it


FOR FUTURE US: December community meeting – library resources/how to access other branches before it closes in January

  • Kristin will ask Amy if she can present


September 13 - Canal Cleanup

  • Arianna is printing posters for both

  • Molly will make a canal cleanup webpage


Kristin is asking Councilwoman Romero Campbell if we can have a table at the South by Southwest concert


Lions Club meets over at American Legion Hall at I-25 and Yale, two Tuesdays a month (second and fourth) – 12 p.m. lunch – there’s a caterer trying to bring vets into food service, teaches them how to cook and stuff

  • Been around since 1917

  • Current main project: collecting used eyeglasses, they travel and bring glasses

  • Service club of volunteers

  • He’s willing to come to a future community meeting and talk about getting involved

  • Also can serve people in Denver – for low-income
