  • Estimated Attendance

  • Coffee Vendor

    • She wanted to hit $500 but didn’t. She’s willing to come back next year, but if it happens two years in a row, we might need to do a minimum.

      • Could a sponsor fund the minimum?

    • Main goal for next year: Make sure we can fit the truck inside the gate near the tables.

  • Total Event Cost: $753.09

    • Event Insurance: $244

    • Eggs and filling: $443.66

    • Fliers: $65.43

Eisenhower Park

  • Athletic Priority Park programs do not allow public events or special occasion permits at Eisenhower Park.

  • I am emailing with Nicole Kazenske at the Denver Parks and Rec Permitting Group to learn more about the program and how status determinations are made. Per Nicole, Eisenhower Park has always been part of this program on the “Unavailable” list.

    • They have no reason or process

  • They told Diana Romero-Campbell that we can’t have the jazz ensemble in the park

  • Other options:

    • Denver Days (July 26-Aug. 3) – we could host a picnic

      • Food truck night is July 25

    • Could have them perform before the movie night: Kathy is going to check with them

The Modernizing Parking Requirements removes minimum vehicular parking requirements for all land uses in the city. A related amendment to Chapter 27 of the Denver Revised Municipal Code is also proposed to address reduced parking requirements for affordable housing development.

  • This project won’t affect single-family homes or accessory dwelling units as these types of housing already don’t require parking spaces. This will affect new developments like apartment buildings, businesses, schools, and churches, which are still anticipated to provide ample parking.

  • Text finalized and public comment period closed May 7.

Unlocking Housing Choices (Summer 2025) will include UHills SU zoning

  • Seeking advisory committee (Application due May 9, 2025)

  • Aims to increase middle housing (small multi-unit structures like duplexes, tandem houses, fourplexes and other house-scaled, middle housing building forms) in low- and medium-residential zone districts ranging from single-unit (SU) to rowhouse (RH), and the comparable Former Chapter 59 zone districts.

  • Mark is going to apply!

Denver Resilient Landscape (FY 2026) will include all developments, including UHills

  • Seeking advisory committee

  • Restrict non-functional turf in all new developments and redevelopments, including SU zoned areas like UHills

  • Programs are planned to be available to support non-functional turf removal for existing residential space.

  • Bluegrass turf is considered non-functional when planted in areas that do not serve a recreation or civic function, such as grass on a median, along a roadway, or around a parking lot. Functional grass covers parks, playing fields and lawns used for events.

  • Donna is filling out the interest form!

Lions Club Partnership

The Denver Lions Club now meets twice a month at the American Legion Hall, 5400 E Yale Ave. What are some thoughts on opportunities to partner?

  • Volunteers to set up events

  • Sponsorships

  • Lions club typically collects old glasses; we could do drives at the food truck nights

  • Kristin to reach out

  • They have bimonthly meetings at noon

    • Kristin will check on schedule; next one is on Tuesday the 13th

    • David will attend; Arianna will go at some point

New Sponsors

  • Annual Sponsor: Modern Animal, a next generation veterinary clinic offering exceptional, convenient care to today’s pet parents at their Cherry Creek clinic and at home with 24/7 virtual care. They’ve also offered a free 1 year membership to the UHNA membership that I have asked Molly to send out in the next quarterly newsletter.

  • Iliff Preschool reached out to be a sponsor – they will collab for some events

  • Shining Lotus bookstore: they’re willing, maybe $250ish

    • Molly plans to send out a Google form in the next newsletter to gauge interest and collect addresses. Then Molly will make a map of the participating addresses

    • We can encourage people to do block parties/sales?

    • If we get ten people, we will make signs

  • June 12 meeting

      • Canal trail will still be open

    • Kristin to check with Michelle; will try to get the same size

    • Arianna willing to start working on it after confirming all the food trucks stuff:

      • Step 1 – see if the library can sponsor movie syndication nights

      • Step 2 - permit etc

      • Kristin

    • Let’s pick 4 movies and vote at food truck night
