Event Planning

Review Of Food Tuck Nights 

• 2 "Dinner" Food Trucks for future events suggested, vegan/vegetarian options?

• Feedback: Food Trucks are not being advertised enough

  • Attendance seems lower

  • More consistent efforts in flyering, promotion on social media

  • Businesses should be tagged in posts.

  • Alexandra will reach out to attending food trucks to share Food Truck Night advertising for the final week.

  • Final Food Truck week flyer w/ Rock Climbing wall.

• The UHNA website should state “Pep Band Le Pew” in place of “Bonnie’s Pep Band”. 

High Line Canal Clean-Up For October 10th

• Promotional Flyers-

  • Often torn down by Maintenance workers along Canal Trail.

  • Reach out to councilwoman Diana to propose flyers permissions along canal given rules (removal).

  • Donna offers to produce, laminate, distribute, and post- anything necessary, including Nextdoor posting responsibilities. Donna will do the organizing for the event communicating w/ High Line Conservancy

  • Donna uses a zip-tie to secure to posts w/ holes, removing zip-tie.

  • Successful marketing is typically utilizing a larger neighborhood Facebook group, which we do not have approval for.

  • Improve publicity for Facebook pages on flyers, events, and sponsor the posts.

  • Establish an advertising budget. $10-15 Can go a long way.

  • Last year they requested a waiver to be signed.

  • An amount of cleaning supplies are given based on waivers received, promotional materials should include qr code to waiver.

  • Donna will set the meeting place/ trash drop-off at the Rec parking lot. 9:00am- Noon.

  • Sponsors are welcome to attend and handout promo material.

    • AFC can bring a goodie bag for those who attend.

  • Donna will send details for flyer after hearing back from Highline Canal Conservancy.

Santa @ The Wellshire 

• Any improvements or changes from last year?

  • Santa- $675 from last year, broke even in donations.

  • If necessary, hiring a professional Santa using Santa Agency would be a decent use of funds given liability and reliability,

    • Could use funds from Movie Night.

  • 2nd Movie Night has been cancelled,

    • PTO has yet to hold a movie night, likely cancelled.

  • In years past, event was run for too long. 10:00am - 2:00pm. A 10 -1pm time-frame was suggested.

    • Santa was present from 10:30 - 1:30.

    • Kathy will reach out Michelle as Mrs. Santa. Thoughtful thank you gift should be considered (King Sooper’s gift card of $50 in the past, $75 suggested)

    • Arianna will look into costs for hiring a professional photographer.

    • Diana does a similar program for Seniors during Christmas.

    • Opening time of the Wellshire may limit our opening time, an earlier time was suggested due to Lunchtime for kids, generally parents could be assumed to prefer earlier start time.

Sept. 9 Community Meeting Planning 

• District 4 Councilwoman Diana Romero Campbell will be attending

• Alfredo Reyes who is running for Denver City Council At-Large B has requested a presentation. 

• Cariss Epstein running for Denver Auditor in support of current Auditor in 2027

• Historically our stance has been in favor of Debate, not an implied endorsement

  • A debate could be counter-proposed (league of women voters sponsor)

  • Invitation to attend rather than holding as guest speaker w/ presentation

Update on Unlocking Housing Choices

• Arianna is receiving emails from concerned Residents about how the neighborhood will be affected.

• Our neighborhood will reasonably be last to be impacted by this proposal due to lack of alleyways.

• Larger lots will be considered for triplex, quadplex due to zoning code changes.

  • Size of building is based on lot size.

  • Access and corner lot size varies within the neighborhood.

• Can Accessory Dwelling Units be built on existing lots?

• Current zoning prohibits size by side duplex and above.

• Row houses, Cottage home, etc. add options for development, but still require parking space.

• Height limitations (side walls w/ flat roof) would be changed by zoning amendment.

• City Council is funding research study.

• Separate utility systems are required when splitting lots. 

• Mark went on Swansea tour of single family home built as duplexes, setbacks were narrowed to accommodate more units.

• Curtis Park layout was more amicable to these proposed changes.

Neighborhood Grant:

  • We're giving Denver Metro Area residents $300 to fund projects that would benefit their neighborhood. Application deadline is August 25. Think planting fruit trees to start a food forest, building a little free food pantry, a shared tool library, a shared pizza oven, your idea here! • University Hills Shopping Center owners have reached out- any questions for them?

  • Invite as guest speakers for December community meeting w/ prepared layout, renderings 

• Local Artist (Alexandra) is hosting an art event, where neighbors can hold yard sales. Live painting at last Food Truck Friday event. Collaborates w/ Art to Hearts to donate work to Pediatric offices. If any artist is interested in participating, share contact.
